A lot to talk about, hardly know where to begin. I’ll start by saying that this was originally a 5 page letter discussing the CANCELLATION of the BLITZKRIEG OF THE BANDS @ TIP TOP TAVERN. After the events of the APRIL FOOL’S DAY show last night, I’ve decided to modify my message in a simple (and hopefully shorter) numbering system which will more concisely orchestrate my frustration, disappointment, and yes, anger! And no, this isn’t an April Fool’s gag…….

“Tea Party” takes center stage Downtown
To be honest, I think that most “demonstrations” and “activists” are controlled opposition ploys, bouncing back and forth from Democrats to Republicans and corporate interests (even if unaware of how they’re being manipulated). It’s always been this way, in some form, long before America was founded. Many “revolutions” are tools of the Elite.
Of course, there are good and honest citizens there protesting as well, that’s the backbone of the game, but I’m not a big fan of the armchair “Super-Patriot” mentality that’s always yammering on about the constitution and their “God Given” rights as if the Founding Fathers created an infallible Saintly Doctrine of Divine Law.
To put it into perspective, 250 people show up at a “Tea Party Rally”, while 70,000 pack in to LUCAS OIL STADIUM on a regular basis and a million+ more watch the games. Hoosiers love their FOOTBALL 1000% more then their political activism. Sad state, I’m sure more people pray about sport’s outcomes than health-care reform.
“INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana republican Congressman Pence was fresh off a plane Monday and immediately begain talking with constituents. It’s part of what could be a final push to keep the Democratic health care reform bill from passing in its current state.”

Booger Spoon Maggot

Ok, so yeah, I’m going to use this blog, once again, to bitch about WTF is wrong with local music! There’s a certain band out there, let’s just say their name sounds a lot like the title of this thread, and every week for the past couple months they are sending out mass messages (including text messages) about their supposed many “successes” in recent weeks. These successes include “We just got signed!”, “Nuvo says we’re great in the latest issue!”, “We’re getting played on the radio right now!”, “We had 220 people come to our show last night!”, and now they are bragging that they are about to win the Guitar Center “Slash your album” contest where Slash plays a song with you.
Now, this is all fine and good, I’m not trying to knock anybody, but here’s the thing. Come to find they didn’t get signed, it’s some Nashville bullshit where they pay thousands of dollars to produce an album and there’s “a chance they’ll get signed”. Then, the issue of NUVO they supposedly appeared in where the magazine states “This is what a live rock show should be”, never happened, at least as far as I can tell. I read every page of the issue they supposedly appeared in front to back and saw absolutely no mention of them. Then, “We had 220 people at the show last night!”… Really? Because you posted pictures of the show and there were only 22 people there.
Every week it’s a new braggadocios deception that is easily seen as a lie to anybody who is paying attention. It’s one of those bands who are constantly overhyping their own machine. Now, it’s fine and good to overhype yourself, but don’t lie about it because that just makes you look bad and makes other bands think you’re a joke. This is the same band that I booked for a show last year, and after they were done playing the sound guy said: “That was the worst fucking band I’ve ever heard” and then didn’t want me booking any more shows at the venue.
This is the same band who I was kind enough to ask to play a show a couple months ago, and the singer tells me “We don’t play little shows anymore” and declined to play. This is the same band who I asked to play a CHARITY event at a certain venue a few months back, they said they couldn’t play it, and then set up a show at the SAME VENUE only 2 days later. That’s just shady business right there. I’ve got other complaints about them (such as the fact they post 10 show fliers a week that’s actually the same 3 recycled flier designs they’ve been using for 6 months), but for now that will do snake, that’ll do…
And the lesson for INDY bands is this: don’t lie to yourself. What good is it to believe your own hype and be self-deceptive? There are real accomplishments, and then there are illusions. Why choose to live in the illusion of some fake popularity contest when the deception is so easy to see through?
Also, I don’t need a text message every time something (imaginary or otherwise) happens to your band.If I give a shit, I’ll follow you on Twitter. Stop wasting my time and minutes.
