Where have you been???

For those 5 or so people who might check out EYE OF NAP (or EON) and wonder why it’s not being updated more. The reason being, I’m refocusing some things in my personal life and have been happily busy online over at CONSPIRAPORN for the last few weeks. Updated daily, hope you’ll check it out and bookmark!

My New Band ‘Piece De Resistance’

2010: Random PDR gigs... | 2/21 @ MELODY INN.... More.... | Pièce de Résistance

Piece De Resistance Live at Melody Inn 4/1/2010

Pièce de Résistance | MySpace Video

So, me and a buddy started up a new band a couple-three months back called PIECE DE RESISTANCE and have been gigging around a little bit in the central Indianapolis area. The video above was our 3rd or 4th show at a really cool place called THE MELODY INN on 4/1/10. Hope you’ll give it a listen, and go easy on us, keeping in mind we’ve only been together a few months, I’m not a guitar player and our drummer isn’t really a drummer. LoL, excuses, excuses. We’ll be playing out a lot (hopefully) this spring and summer and are working on both a demo and full length CD.

Interview W/ INDY Band Violent Calm

Logo | Thanks to Melissa B | Violent Calm

In a local music scene inundated with meaningless lyrics, trendy mediocrity, sheer ego-fuck and total lack of passion and inventiveness: the metal-funk experiment known as VIOLENT CALM are making a name for themselves as a uniquely stylized rock group who can hold their own with the best of them.

After booking the band for a handful of shows in recent months, I quickly realized that it didn’t matter if it was a crowd of 10, 25, 50, or 100 people, they consistantly brought the energy and kept things lively and entertaining. This is a band who wants to rock for you, has the ability to rock you, and might even rock your mamma and your dog too…!

Here’s a discussion with singer/songwriter Chris Charles (East Siiiiide!) about the band, the state of underground music in Naptown, and some ideas on how to generate more support, energy, and enthusiasm into the local local scene…

Music Beats Math

Study: Playing the Numbers, Music Beats Math Anxiety

A mother walks her fussy baby around the house, singing and patting his back in time to the lullaby. She might not know it, but her rhythmic patting is her baby’s first experience of patterning, a mathematical concept linked to more advanced math such as algebra. Can a child so young really respond to a lesson about math? Yes, say Ohio University professors Gene and Kamile Geist. The two have spent the last few years collaborating on research that shows that music can help children to interact with their world mathematically from a very early age.

Houston, We Have A Problem…

A lot to talk about, hardly know where to begin. I’ll start by saying that this was originally a 5 page letter discussing the CANCELLATION of the BLITZKRIEG OF THE BANDS @ TIP TOP TAVERN. After the events of the APRIL FOOL’S DAY show last night, I’ve decided to modify my message in a simple (and hopefully shorter) numbering system which will more concisely orchestrate my frustration, disappointment, and yes, anger! And no, this isn’t an April Fool’s gag…….
